The Mushroom Tapestry Woven Blanket
Kneel down on the forest floor and the small world opens up: toadstools like little umbrellas, moss soft as velvet, a glow that might be a lantern or might be something older.
The Mushroom Tapestry blanket is a Jacquard woven throw — a woodland floor of toadstools, moss, tiny lanterns, and a star-speckled field, woven (never printed) into reversible cotton. Three sizes from $76.63. Shop it on Etsy →
Why mushrooms are everywhere right now
Mushrooms have quietly become one of the defining motifs of the last few years of design — and it's not an accident. The pandemic sent a lot of people foraging and gardening; documentaries and bestselling books reframed fungi as the secret communication network of the forest; and "forestcore," "goblincore," and cottagecore all converged on the woodland floor as a place of comfort. The humble toadstool became shorthand for a slower, stranger, more enchanted relationship with nature.
There's older magic here too. The red-and-white Amanita muscaria — the storybook toadstool — runs through European folklore, fairy paintings, and the "fairy rings" that medieval villagers believed marked where the fae had danced. Mushrooms sit right on the line between the cozy and the uncanny, which is exactly why they make such good decor: a little wholesome, a little witchy.
This design leans into all of it: clusters of spotted and bell-cap mushrooms, cushions of green moss, a scatter of tiny glowing lanterns, and a deep field of stars overhead — like a patch of forest floor caught at the magic hour. The palette is mossy and warm: forest and sage greens, toadstool red, amber lantern-glow, and a deep starlit blue.
Woven, not printed
The mossy texture and the soft glow of lanterns against a dark field are exactly the kind of organic detail that flattens out on a print. Woven as a Jacquard tapestry, the forest floor has real depth and texture, plus a reversible back and decades of life. How the weave works →
How to style it
This is a showpiece for a cozy, plant-filled, cottagecore room. Hung as a woodland wall tapestry above a bed, the 52"×37" turns the wall into a forest; as a throw on a reading chair, the 60"×50" is the everyday size; the 80"×60" covers a full sofa. It loves company — real plants, wood tones, warm lamps, and earthy textiles.
"It's like having a little enchanted forest on my bed. I've had three friends ask where I got it before they even said hello."
Who it's for
This is the gift for the cottagecore and forestcore lover, the plant person, the forager, the fantasy reader, and anyone whose dream home looks a little like a cottage in the woods. It's a standout dorm, first-apartment, or birthday gift for the nature-romantic in your life.
